In 1985 The Mellon Patch started producing wooden train whistles for Boxcar Willie to use as a promotional tool for his live shows. As time passed, other customers were added including the Arkansas State Capitol Building, the New Mexico Toy Train Museum, the Hugo Oklahoma Train Museum and others. In 2013 the original owners retired.
The business was taken over by Bruce and Kathy Winter who have carried on the tradition that started so many years ago. The company name was changed to Down Home Products LLC, to reflect the origin of our products. Our goal is to produce a high quality train whistle along with other products that reflect “Made in Arkansas, USA” using American manufactured supplies.
Currently our Whistles and Yo Yo’s can be custom stamped with your approved art with a small one time fee with no extra charge for stamping.
At this time we only sell wholesale to retailers and gift shops.
